Telstra Envisions a Digital Platforms Future – “Network as a Product”
Executives unveil a powerful vision of utilizing open APIs to enable a new portfolio of digital platform solutions for enterprise customers.

In an era where connectivity defines progress, Telstra’s Connected Future 30 strategy, unveiled on May 26, 2025, charts a bold course for Australia’s digital evolution over the next five years.
It defines Telstra’s ambitious blueprint to redefine how Australians connect, innovate, and thrive in a rapidly transforming world.
At its core is a Telco as a Platform strategy to open up it’s network via APIs, and doubles down on delivering sophisticated, flexible connectivity, leveraging Telstra’s unrivaled mobile networks and digital infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of customers.
It embraces AI to anticipate challenges, simplify access, and transform the network itself into a dynamic, value-driven product.
With a vision to cement its position as Australia’s leading network provider, Telstra sets audacious goals: a 50% increase in strategic customer satisfaction by 2030, a top 10 brand ranking, and a 70% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions, all while delivering sustained financial growth and strong returns on investment.
From launching the high-capacity Sydney to Canberra coastal fibre route to implementing strategic price adjustments, Telstra is not just adapting to change—it is shaping it.
Network as a Product
The investor presentation provides the detail of the strategy, with CEO Vicki Brady and Group Executive, Product & Technology, Kim Krogh Andersen providing keynote talks that explain what ‘Network as a Product’ means and how it is central to their strategy. As Kim writes on Linkedin:
This is what we’re calling “Network as a Product”.
It’s a bold reimagining of how we create and capture value from our core product – the network.
The network is not a static commodity – it’s a sophisticated, dynamic product with many different attributes that can cater to the diverse needs of our customers.
The adoption of network APIs allows telecom operators (telcos) to transform from traditional connectivity providers into platform-based businesses, unlocking new revenue streams, fostering innovation, and enhancing customer experiences.
